ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A STRATEGIC PATHWAY TO INCLUSIVE & SUSTAINABLE FUTURES
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved from a frontier technology to a transformational force shaping governance, industry and society. Its impact now extends far beyond specialized laboratories-reshaping defence systems, transportation, agriculture, healthcare delivery, digital governance and national security. AI holds the potential to drive development, reinforce strategic autonomy, and promote inclusive growth across India and the Global South, if pursued with responsibility, foresight, and ethical rigor.
(Speech Link : Mr. Tribhuvan Darbari speaking during Global South Artificial Intelligence Law, 2025)
Through my engagements with
governments, multilateral institutions and industry-whether as Chairman of the
National Part of the SCO Business Council Secretariat (India), Principal
Advisor to the India-Arab Chamber of Commerce or as Managing Director of TexmacoDefence and & Chief Executive of Texmaco Rail& Engineering - I have
witnessed firsthand how profoundly AI is redefining global economic and
strategic paradigms. These experiences reaffirm that AI must be viewed not
merely as a technology but as a strategic national asset and a global public
good.
AI as a Pillar of National Resilience
AI’s strategic value is reflected
in its ability to enhance industrial competitiveness, strengthen defence
preparedness, optimize resource utilisation and improve public service
delivery. For India, AI-led tools in governance-ranging from predictive analytics
to automated monitoring-have already begun transforming administrative
efficiency and public welfare.
Through the SCO Business Council, I have had the opportunity to facilitate dialogues on AI-driven smart infrastructure, digital platforms and predictive governance. These discussions reveal a clear consensus: AI is not simply a competitive race; it is a shared pathway to collective security, economic stability, and regional cooperation.
Industrial Transformation
Through Predictive Intelligence
Among the most practical and
high-impact applications of AI lies in industrial modernization. Predictive
maintenance, IoT-enabled monitoring, robotics, and real-time analytics are
redefining how industries operate. At Texmaco, we are actively exploring these
technologies to enhance reliability, safety and productivity across critical
manufacturing and logistics operations.
For a geographically diverse
economy like India, AI-enabled systems can drastically reduce downtime, improve
supply-chain efficiency and increase the longevity of industrial assets. AI is
no longer optional; it is becoming an essential foundation for modern,
competitive and sustainable industries.
AI for Agriculture, Healthcare
& Urban Futures
AI’s potential is equally transformative in human development sectors:
Agriculture: AI can drive precision farming, improve yield prediction, optimise water use, and support small farmers through real-time advisory systems.
Healthcare: AI-enabled diagnostics, remote monitoring, and telemedicine can bridge critical access gaps in rural regions.
Urban Governance: Intelligent mobility, smart grids, and data-driven waste management are enabling more sustainable and efficient cities. These applications reinforce a principle I strongly believe in: AI must democratise opportunity, reduce disparities and enhance quality of life.
Ethical & Sovereign AI for
the Global South
With AI’s growing influence comes
the responsibility to establish robust governance frameworks. In my
participation in the Global South AI Law & Governance Dialogue, I
emphasised the importance of building AI systems grounded in transparency,
accountability, and fairness. Key priorities must include:
- Data sovereignty to protect national
information assets
- Algorithmic integrity to eliminate bias
- Security safeguards for defence,
infrastructure and finance
- Indigenous digital ecosystems aligned
with national interests
India’s commitment to sovereign digital platforms provides a strong basis for building ethical, secure, and citizen-centric AI systems.
AI in Defence, Security &
Critical Infrastructure
AI is reshaping defence through
autonomous systems, swarm drones, enhanced surveillance, and counter-drone
technologies. My engagements with global defence and technology
partners-especially within SCO structures-highlight the importance of
developing AI-driven security solutions that strengthen operational readiness
and national self-reliance.
Similarly, AI-enabled digital twins, intelligent logistics, and smart infrastructure systems offer transformative efficiency for national transport networks, urban corridors, and industrial ecosystems.
Shaping a Multipolar AI Future
India, along with the Global South, has a unique opportunity to shape a multipolar AI governance architecture rooted in inclusivity, transparency, and shared prosperity. Through platforms like the SCO Business Council Secretariat and the India-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture I continue to advocate for joint R&D, cross-border innovation clusters and collaborative pilot projects.
Ultimately, AI must remain human-centric,
empowering individuals, uplifting communities, and enabling participation in
the digital economy. As India advances toward becoming a global hub for AI
innovations, our collective responsibility is to ensure that progress remains
ethical, inclusive and strategically aligned with national and global
interests.
With sustained leadership, investment, and cooperation, AI can become a catalyst for equitable development, national resilience and global leadership-for India and the world.
